After a 25-year career in the film industry as an animator, Steve transitioned to working full-time as a ceramicist in 2025, a path sparked by his passion for clay, which began back in 2018.

He works primarily with high-iron stoneware, which he reduction fires in a gas kiln he built by hand. Steve enjoys letting the atmosphere within the kiln play its part, as each firing produces unique tones and textures.

He’s as fascinated by the science behind glazes as he is by the artistry of each form. Deeply inspired by Japanese pottery, Steve embraces the delicate balance between refinement and looseness.
